The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins by Dr Seuss.

The 500 Hats is written in prose rather than rhyming and metered verse. Geisel, who collected hats, got the idea for the story on a commuter train from New York to New England while he was sitting behind a businessman wearing a hat; the passenger was so stiff and formal that Geisel idly wondered what would happen if he took the man's hat and threw it out the window. Geisel concluded that the man was so "stuffy" that he would just grow a new one.

Measures: 12.25 x 9.25
The outer boards are done in blackboards that show wear around the edges and fading (please see photos), the spine is red cloth and shows wear on the bottom and top corner, no dust jacket. The pages are in excellent condition, showing the name of Allen Webb on the inside front cover in the upper left corner and an imprint stamp bearing his initials on the first page.
