David Balfour by Robert Louis Stevenson, the Sequel to Kidnapped, published by Charles Scribner’s Sons circa 1918
We left David Balfour in Edinburgh, entering a bank at the end of Kidnapped. Now safe and the recognized Lord of Shaws, the Appin murder still haunts him. His high principles send him straight to the risk of being executed as an accomplice. At the very doorstep of the man who may hold his fate in his hands, he runs into a lady with a pair of bewitching grey eyes whose father's neck is almost already in a noose. What will become of it all?
David Balfour by R.L.S. is the sequel to Kidnapped. The biographical edition of the works of R.L.S. This edition is prefaced by Mrs. Stevenson, who I found particularly edifying. The leather used by Scribner's for this tomb is a yummy soft glove leather w/the feel of suede (though that may be age), done In olive green w/ stamped gold leaf Arte Nouveau lettering, binding is good, the boards are slightly tattered on edges and spine (please see photos), the pages are in excellent condition.
