Biblio Dreaming

I am that girl with a book at the ballgame, in the park, at the office, on the plane, train, and in a restaurant. I mastered the brow arch young; when employed correctly, the recipient backs away swiftly, mumbling apologies and assurances that whatever the disturbance was will wait (the brow arch is a superpower); you see, they never know what I could be reading, I could be learning some magical way to end their annoying interruptions forever (excruciatingly, the art of war "know thy enemy"), because why else would I be reading? If I could explain that (without eyes glazing over), I could cure all the world's ills.
My Bohemian fantasy is a 21st-century version of the 19th and 20th-century literary salon, famous for free intellectual exchange in Vienna, Paris, Soho, Harlem, and more, touched with elegance, erudite repartee, and a sincere love of banter; a place where learning, creating, and traveling are integral to breathing.
In all honesty, I haven't entirely decided on a direction or purpose for this blog (it could seriously infringe on reading time, and computer screens don't respond to 'the brow lift'); I revere privacy and am ambivalent at best with social media, but this is where we are as a society, and I must meet life with what I have not what I wish I had. My dream is an eventual brick-and-mortar establishment with real people, books, coffee and tea, gf goodies, antiques, vintage clothing, live music, poetry slams, stunning culinary masterpieces, and inventive cocktails; a place to showcase art, artist, authors, philosophical thinkers, brainstorming ways of contributing to good and proving our universal worth and worthiness of mother natures gifts (a serious time commitment ... bibliophiles will understand my ambivalence).
Despite being diagnosed with Celiac disease, I am joyful and grateful for an answer to the riddle. I have always loved cooking, and there is no finer learning tool than cuisine; the cultural exchange when cooking culturally diverse cuisine is irreplaceable and a true mind-expanding endeavor. Beautiful, lush, sexy picnics (both indoors and out) will be in our future. Being a So-Cal girl, I've turned our notoriously hot Thanksgiving and Christmas meals into magical 'only in Cali' picnics whenever the meter registers above 75 degrees. This could be fun!
I look forward to hearing from you and promise to tear myself away from my endless biblio pile, precious beastie snuggles, and my meager contribution to greenhouse gases (playing in dirt) at least once a week (ummm, try, let us agree on trying).
Cheers to all the beautiful Celiac bibliophiles; I wish you a stimulating week (or two)!
